ERM Legal Solutions Announces General Release of Lean4Legal PM®
February 15, 2013– Nashville, TN – ERM Legal Solutions is pleased to announce the general release of Lean4Legal PM®, a market leading legal project management solution for lawyers, law firms and corporate legal departments.
Lean4Legal PM® resulted from over three years of market research, industry focus groups and a product development process which applied ERM’s patent pending Cellular Task Sequencing Technology™ (CTST) and many decades of experience by ERM’s founders in project management, Six Sigma, Lean and legal services industry.
“We are excited to offer our legal project management solution to the legal industry and to see the impact that project management, when executed correctly, will have on legal.” said Jerry Walters, CEO and President of ERM. “Corporate clients are now demanding improved efficiencies, price predictability and on time delivery of legal services. We saw the same game changing events in the engineering, manufacturing and CAD/CAM industries over the last several decades and we were able to develop project management solutions to meet the new demands for those industries.” Walters added, “We know through our prior experience that we can help Law firms thrive in these challenging times while meeting the demands of their corporate clients and differentiate themselves on the basis of “doing more with less”.
Large regional law firm Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP (NelsonMullins®) has served as a co-development partner with ERM in bringing Lean4Legal PM® to market. Robert Brunson, a litigator in the firm’s Charleston, South Carolina office has been a legal project management specialist for over ten years. In response to client expectations, Robert has learned to manage complex litigation successfully for his corporate clients by providing efficiencies and price predictability for which competing law firms could only hope. After spending nearly 4 months piloting Lean4Legal PM®, Robert stated, “After using the more complex and confusing Microsoft Project tools, I find Lean4Legal PM® to be a great advance for lawyers who want to spend their time representing clients, not untangling software functionality. This system has the key functionality necessary to enable lawyers, even those without experience in formal project management techniques, to benefit from greater planning and control. It will enable project management to reach the masses in the legal profession, while still providing a very robust set of capabilities.”
Jason Epstein, a Nelson Mullins partner in the Nashville, Tennessee office, focuses his practice on corporate transactional work primarily involving technology and emerging business entities. He is a frequent writer and lecturer on the topics of technology and the practice of law. Epstein’s excitement about using Lean4Legal PM® in his transactional practice is based on the fact that no training or prior experience in project management methodologies is required to benefit from its use. “Like tax preparation software, which made it possible for the masses to prepare their taxes without learning tax codes, Lean4Legal PM® enables the lawyer to benefit from tried and true project management principles and disciplines without the need to learn project management. We don’t want to teach LPM to our lawyers.” Epstein continues, “In fact, Lean4Legal PM® is LPM without the LPM. Just by using the tool, you are doing LPM. Lean4Legal PM® requires little training. Most users will benefit from the technology with less than 30 minutes of orientation.”
ERM is accepting customers into its “Lighthouse Early Adopter Program” (LEAP) which permits law firms and legal departments of any size to implement pilot projects using Lean4Legal PM®. LEAP allows lawyers to experience the value of using automated templates to plan, staff, budget and execute legal projects. Real time reporting features and alerts keep projects on time and on budget without surprises to the firm or the client.

Blogosphere Lights up About ERM
February 9, 2012 – Nashville, TN. - As e-journalists learn of ERM’s legal project management (LPM) tool, the reviews have begun to come in. Ron Friedmann visited the product launch in New York last week and has now written a very positive review of ERM’s LPM solution. PrismLegal
Ron has been a legal technology thought leader for over 20 years. His blog has a global following and his work in legal consulting, law firm management and marketing signals his extensive knowledge of the current dynamics of the practice of law and the technology tools which can support it.
For a thought leader like Ron to proclaim our product to be a “promising new” technology is gratifying and a validation that the legal services market is ready for a tool like ours.
Other product review posts are expected this week. We will report here when they are published.
ERM “Coming Out Party” Great Success
February 4, 2012 – Nashville, TN. - The debut of ERM’s Legal Project Management (LPM) software technology was well received by those who viewed its live demonstration in New York this week. After the week of interviews and demonstrations, there are now 25 customers “in the queue” for sales and demonstration of ERM’s software and services. This new addition to the suite of technology tools lawyers are finding indispensable in their search for efficient processes in this daunting economy was welcomed by the ERM guests in New York.
Just last week ThomsonReuters’ Quarterly Peer Monitor Index for the 4th Quarter of 2011 revealed declining demand, productivity, and collections in law firms at the end of the year. Additionally, expenses in the law firm economic equation continued to increase. Profitability pressures have continued to mount.
The only law firms bucking this trend and experiencing growth instead of stagnation are the firms adopting innovative business models. Legal project management continues to light the path through these perilous woods. The market differentiators in this period of “client revolution” will be shown by the firms providing predictable pricing, on time delivery and consistent quality. LPM is the methodology providing these tools for successful firms.
As noted legal technology blogger Ron Friedmann wrote, “Legal project management is hot.” He specifically mentioned ERM’s technology solution is a “very systematic approach to managing complex projects.” His blog can viewed at PrismLegal.
ERM tools have proven successful in other professional service industries and legal services is only beginning to realize the power of LPM.
If the reception received by ERM’s guests in New York this week is any indication, the fleet is turning in the open sea and a new direction is becoming clear.

ERM will host a product launch of its breakthrough technology for Legal Project Management at the event. If you are interested in attending, click the following link to register for your own personal viewing: Invitation to LegalTech demonstration.
After viewing the ERM demonstration, noted legal industry consultant and LPM specialist, Susan Lambreth, stated, “The is ‘missing link’ in LPM implementation.” Without automated execution tools, LPM can consume more time and create more frustration for lawyers than doing nothing. ERM avoids this trap without requiring lawyers to become project management specialists or consuming significant time acquiring skills only indirectly related to the practice of law.
We hope to see you in New York. If you know of someone attending LegalTech, please pass this invitation on for their review.
